December 2, 1997 - January 9, 1997
#10349 Lunar - stray, brown tabby w/ lots of white (she looks like
Isabelle w/o the calico), 8 wks, F, shorthair.
#10218 Cosmo - stray sibling, gray tabby w/ white paws, nose &
bib, 8 wks, M, shorthair.
#10219 Cassiopeia - stray sibling, brown tabby, 8 wks, F,
shorthair. Died 12-12-97. She'll be waiting at the rainbow bridge for us.
#10220 Orion - stray sibling, brown tabby, 8 wks, M, shorthair.
These are 3 litter-mates and a lone kitten about the same age, Lunar. All
are shorthair tabbies about 8-9 weeks old. They are adorable, but terrors to
medicate. We named the siblings 'astronomy/astrology' type names to go along
with Luna, who was named at the shelter. Luna was found under someone's hood
(probably at Lunar) trying to keep warm. The other 3 siblings were extremely
human-shy at first but have warmed up completely. (Yes, 4 kittens do fit on my
lap at once.)
Cassie wasn't eating very well and was dehydrated so we fed her and gave
her water via syringe. She was very sweet, but too tiny and she didn't make it.
We will always remember her. I was really afraid for her all along.
Cosmo had a hold put on him
at the shelter before he got sick, but they gave up and got another. He
unfortunately was the most sneezy and had the most irritated eyes so I
couldn't see sending him back right away. He was very active and difficult
to get pictures of. Orion was an escape artist and LOVED Maubee.
The kittens loved our Christmas tree (put up the day after Christmas). All
3 got very active after we started treating them for coccidia (had a hard time
getting a sample checked with the holidays). I hope they have happy lives.

#9756 Peanut - surrender, gray classic tabby, 11 months, M, shorthair.
Peanut looks like a very big kitten. He weighs 12 pounds, but has the
gangly look of a teenager. Peanut is a surrender and didn't know what stairs
were. He is a little timid, but likes to be hugged which is kind of unusual in
cats. Peanut loves to play vigorously in the toilet bowl. This is the first
cat that Maubee didn't like, but Meg did like him!

#8918 Lily Anna - white w/small smudge of gray on head, @ 3 months, F, med. hair.
#8861 Isabelle - white with tabby + calico, about 4 months, F, medium
hair
Lily and Isabelle loved their medicine, Cefa drops. They had coccidia
which they gave to Maubee. They in turn picked up a few fleas at our home.
Lily would have an hour or two a day of real congestion, but the rest of the
time be fine. It took her a while to get over this. Isabelle had the
proportions and look of an adult cat…she looked like a miniature.
Update: These two kittens are listed on the autograph wall at Mounds
Fitchburg adoption satellite center. Lily Anna was adopted along with a cat
named Chippewa by 'Pam, Colleen & Danny' and Isabelle
was adopted by 'Sam & Julie'. Both adoptions happened on 11-11-97.

#8146 Samson - Orange tabby with white, @ 3-4 months, M, short
hair
Sammy was SO shy when we first got him. In the first few days he really
made progress, but was still terrified of unknown things, even toys like
feathers. Sammy had a URI and whipworm and either already had fleas or got
fleas from our house. Sammy loved Maubee. Sammy had white paws, so adorable,
and a kink in his tail.

#8140 Leonardo del Fuego - Buff tabby, @ 3-4 months old, M, short hair
Leo was so photogenic and very playful. He loved to nibble on my watch and
buttons while I petted him. He loved to wrestle with Maubee. He had a
spectacular lonesome howl when left in his room.

#7794 Maxwell Smart aka Mackinack (a surrender named Bonkers. Max fit
him so much better though) orange tabby, 3 yr old, M, short hair
Max was named Bonkers and didn't seem to know it. His vocalizations were
unusual, many 'mac's and 'ack's etc. Kind of like Klingon. Especially when you
come in after a long time. He would recite a long monologue about his day, etc,
etc. Max was very smart and determined. He immediately figured out how to open
the cabinet with the catnip in it. He also made an attempt at the crawlspace.
He gave bruiser headbutts. Max had a URI and didn't really want to eat anything
even though he was pretty skinny. He weighed 10 pounds but his frame was so
large. I think he should be about 13.

# Jenny Louise black, about 10 wks, F, shorthair
# Kirby brown tabby w/ white socks, about 8 wks, M, shorthair
# Quincy/Quinn white with tabby, about 11 weeks, M, shorthair
These 3 non-related kittens all human shy, especially Quinn. Quinn is the
only kitten that could hide as well as Megan that I have met. He liked to park
under things when someone came in. Kirby turned out to be the sweetest little
lapwarmer. What a little baby! He had a hard time keeping up with the 2 older
ones. These kittens were timid enough that I could leave the door open and they
wouldn't climb the baby gate.

June 17, 1997 - July 1, 1997
#? Lucy white w/ tabby (mark on her forehead), @2-3 months, F,
shorthair
#? (suddenly) Seymour brown tabby, @ 2-3 months, M,
shorthair
#? Maurice (Minnifield i.e 'the gangster of love') white w/tabby, @ 2-3
months, M, medium hair
These 3 were fostered by someone else before me, when she had to go on
vacation I took them. They had slight URIs that they just couldn't shake. They
also had fleas which is what seemed to start my flea troubles this year.
Seymour and Lucy were very elegant and acrobatic kittens, and very slim. Mo,
being longer haired was a little fuzzball and he loved attention and demanded
that he get it.

#7052 Amanda Rose White, about a year old, F, longhair
Amanda was a small (7lb) beautiful young adult. She had a gorgeous tail
and luxurious soft fur. She was a lot like my Maubee and they got along great
together. She liked to bite noses. (Ouch)

#6607 Daisy (the mama) orange tabby, unknown age but not real young, F,
shorthair
and #6608, #6609, #6610, and #6611 her 5-6 week old male kittens...
Colby golden orange w/slight tabby, 5-6 week old, M, shorthair
Tigger orange tabby, 5-6 week old, M, shorthair
Bart golden orange w/slight tabby, 5-6 week old, M, medium hair
Twinkie golden orange w/slight tabby, 5-6 week old, M, shorthair
These were my very first foster cats. They were so adorable and it was
wonderful to see them with their mama. She was a great cat too. Twinkie was
the runt and a little crybaby. You'd pick him up and he'd start squeaking for
mama. Bart was the cutest thing with that downy fur. He was a mama's boy,
always the first to nurse or settle in to sleep by Daisy. Tigger was just a
normal active little kitten. And Colby was the terror, always doing things
first and climbing everywhere.
